Blizzard’s Overwatch Releases This Week May 24 2016
Blizzard’s latest game Overwatch is releasing this week for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and expectations for the game are very high. Earlier this month, an open beta was held where over 9 million players worldwide got to experience the game first hand. If even half of this amount of people buy the game, it can easily be considered the game of the summer.
Overwatch is a multiplayer first person shooter where each character plays a different role with a different set of skills each. A player chooses an offense, defense, tank, or support character, and throughout the match, the player can switch to any of the 21 heroes to help accomplish the task at hand.
Currently available multiplayer gametypes include Assault, Escort, Control, and Hybrid. In Assault, one team defends their base while the offensive team attempts to capture it. In Escort, one team is responsible for escorting a payload across the map safely by defending it from the other team. Control is your typical King of the Hill style gametype where there are spots on the map that a team must get to and defend their position.
The game is releasing in retail in the U.S. on Monday, May 23, 2016, but while you can go ahead and install the game, it won’t go live until 7pm Eastern Time.
